Biography

My name is Margaret Magdalene Forsey. I am a multidisciplinary artist. I work in dance, performance, and fiber art. I really love to make hooked rug portraits, using reclaimed materials. My rugs have been described as sweet, funny, beautiful, and just plain weird! I studied art at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and I graduated as valedictorian of my class in 2006. Yay!

I have exhibited my art work all across Canada. I have been artist in residence at the Craft Council of Newfoundland Clay Studio in St. John's, Newfoundland, and the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture in Dawson City, Yukon.  I also have extensive experience teaching art to students of all ages- but I love to teach children the most!

I grew up in St. John's, NL and currently live in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. It is the loveliest small town in the world! I love dancing, yoga, bike riding, gardening and making and eating yummy food. I am inspired by animals, cozy homes, naps, children's books, comics, local music, and my friends. I think that life tastes good!
